The Ellis Day Camp

The Ellis School is offering two sessions of camp this summer.  Summer camp is a theme-based, multidisciplinary program taught by Ellis faculty.  Each closely supervised session includes a variety of enriching indoor and outdoor experiences creating a fun-filled day.  Some of this years activities include library, computers, rock wall climbing, roller skating, yoga, origami, animation and video. 

Week  I          June 6 - 10, Teamwork Week
Week  II         June 13 - 17, Carnival Week
Who:              All students (boys and girls) entering grades K - 5
in the fall of the 2005 - 2006 school year.
Where:          The Ellis Lower School
Time:             9:00am - 3:00pm
Fee:              $195 per week.  This fee includes a morning snack. 

Campers provide their own lunches.

Extended Care for Day Camp Students

Before Camp Care     8:00am - 9:00am            $8.00 per day

After Camp Care       3:00pm - 5:45pm            $24.00 per day

Before and After Camp Care                           $30.00 per day
or $100 per week for 5 days including before and after camp care.

*A late fee of $20.00 will be charged for all pick-ups after 5:45pm and for each additional 15 minutes.

and theirs, too! 

Bring a friend (boy or girl) who is not currently enrolled as a student at the Ellis School and save $20 off your camp fee and $20 off of their camp fee ($40 total).   The discount only applies to weeks that both campers would attend.   Discount is pro-rated for ½ day camps.

**All summer camps and the extended day program must be prepaid at the time of registration. Registrations without full payment will not be accepted.

 

The Ellis School Specialty Camps

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Community Program Camp

Students  will learn about the environment, investigate the recycling process, and create projects with recycled materials.  The camp will include a field trip to Littlearth in Oakland to learn about protecting the environment and recycling more efficiently. 

Week  I           June 6 - 10
Who:               Incoming 2nd through 5th graders.
Where:            Lower School Science Lab
Time:              12:00pm - 5:45 p.m.

Fee:                $205 per week.  Includes $10 field trip fee.            $300 per week if campers attend the Day Camp from 9:00am - 12:00pm.

Take Flight Physical Science Camp

Students will discover what makes things fly by learning about some of the basic science behind flight.  Students will apply this knowledge to build their own objects that fly!

Week  I           June 6 - 10
Who:               Incoming 4th through 6th graders.
Where:            LS Classroom
Time:              9:00am - 12:00pm

Fee:                $100 per week
$195 per week if campers attend Day Camp after Take Flight Camp.

Good Vibrations Music Camp

Students will sing, move, and participate in a variety of Orff instrument ensembles based on the Orff-Schulwerk method.   Music reading and composition skills will be developed during camp.

Week  II          June 13 - 17
Who:               Incoming 3rd through 5th graders.
Where:            LS Music Room
Time:              9:00am - 12:00pm

Fee:                 $100 per week
$195 per week if campers attend Day Camp after Music Camp.

Recorder Camp

The earliest portrayal of the recorder is an eleventh-century carving on a stone pillar in the church at Boubon-l'Achambault, St George, France.  The recorder grew in popularity throughout the Renaissance and is still played today.  In Recorder Camp, students will learn to play a variety of songs which they will then perform with a recorded orchestral accompaniment.  Music reading skills will be developed during camp.

Week  II          June 13 - 17
Who:               Incoming 3rd through 5th graders.
Where:            LS Music Room
Time:              12:00pm - 3:00pm

Fee:                 $100 per week
$195 per week if campers attend Day Camp after Music Camp.

Pre-K Camp

Offers a variety of learning opportunities with fun interactive play and a chance to become comfortable in a Kindergarten room.  Daily themes will include:  Water Day,  Train Day, Music Day and more!

Week II          June 13 - 17
Who:              Pre K students who will enter Kindergarten in the Fall of 2006.

Where:             Lower School Kindergarten Room
Time:               9:00am - 11:00am

Fee:                 $80 per week

Creative Journaling and Bookmaking

Learn how to make your own paper and create a sketchbook/journal in this hands-on workshop.  Creative visual and journaling exercises, poetry and sketching are some of the activities that we will explore.

Week II           June 13 - 17
Who:               Incoming 5th through 8th graders
Where:            MS Art Studio
Time:              12:00 - 3:00pm

Fee:                $100 per week

"Plein Air" Painting and Drawing

Paint and sketch outdoors in the landscape on and around the Ellis campus.  Learn about perspective, how to use color and create your own set of scenic note cards.  Use a variety of media (watercolor and acrylic paint, colored and graphite pencil, charcoal and mixed media) to create several original landscapes!

Week  II           June 13 - 17
Who:                Incoming 5th through 8th graders
Where:             MS Art Studio
Time:               3:00 - 5:45pm

Fee:                 $100 per week

Registration Deadline is Friday May 27, 2005 for all camps.  Class size is limited so please register early.
