8History-Group Activity: Impact of The Great Depression
OBJECTIVE: To collect primary source documents related to The Great Depression and
use them to create a presentation that accurately represents the impact of
the event. This project is will be completed by groups of 3-4 students.
DIRECTIONS: Access the Library of Congress site "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?"
Using selected passages from personal histories and photographs,
create a presentation that accurately represents the mood of the 1930's.
DO NOT limit yourself to the materials on this web site; conduct a
search for unique resources. Organize the material into a PowerPoint
presentation, according to the guidelines given. Submit the final version
[BEFORE the start of due day's class period] tot he 8History Drop Box
as: depression.(group leader's first name).(section number)

1. Six (6) photographs
2. Six (6) quotes from AT LEAST three (3) different readings
3. Limit of five (5) cards [including title, sources cited cards]
4. Equal participation in presentations by ALL group members
GRADING: The bulk of the points earned will be for the effective selection and
presentation of the primary sources; group cooperation and technical
expertise will also be factored into the overall score. The breakdown:
